"Kids do well if they can. If they aren't doing well, it means there's a barrier between effort and success that must be addressed." - Ross Greene
About Me:
Empathy. Knowledge. and Fun.
Hello! My name is Dr. Joshua Dickter. If you have found my site, you are likely looking for someone to help you improve upon whatever challenging situation you or your child currently face. Unfortunately, finding the right provider can be just one more stressor added onto your plate! So please, allow me to make an attempt to take that stress away just a bit by making this as simple as possible.
The basics: My name is Dr. Joshua Dickter. I specialize in working with children and families, and have experience working with depression, anxiety, executive functioning challenges, giftedness, or, as is often the case, a combination of these challenges and more!
The extras: What I believe differentiates me from other clinicians is my ability to balance empathy, knowledge, and fun. I care about my clients, am experienced in my work with children, and above all, can make sessions fun, which is necessary for kids to commit to the treatment process.

Services offered:
Consultation
Appointments designed to provide support for more systems-based or broad areas of concern. Some common questions answered by consulting include "what services would best benefit my son?" or "is therapy the best option for my daughter?".
Counseling/Therapy
Repeating sessions targeting a specific clinical goal agreed upon by myself, the parents, and the child themselves. For more information about my specific approach to therapy, please refer to the "About Me" section.
Assessment
Services designed to obtain a full picture of your child's abilities across multiple areas of functioning (cognitive, emotional, executive functioning, reading, etc.) I administer and compile data from numerous evaluations to leave no stone unturned in identifying the cause of challenges and how to help. Final assessment results are presented in a hard-copy report.
